So Fresh and So Clean!

We are all Spring cleaning, right??   Purging things we know we do not need anymore.   Cleaning things and places we tend to forget about all Winter long.  I know I am.  I am also trying to "go green" a little more than I have in the past.   Remembering those reusable bags, recycling all the materials I can, and using more earth friendly products.  I am also trying to find new ways to save some moola this year!

Spring Savings #1

Homemade Laundry Soap
Smells so good!   Clothes are so soft!  I LOVE IT!!!
I would love to give credit where it is due, but there are tons of bloggers with this recipe, and after reading them all days after days, I can not pin point just one of them.note:  this was not my idea

As I was searching these recipes I found some really great information.

Tide 75 oz {50 loads}  =  .18 cents per load
Dreft 100 oz  {64 loads}  = .30 cents per load
Homemade Laundry Soap {50 loads} =  .01 cent per load

20 Mule Team BORAX   $3.36
Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda {different than baking soda}  $2.77
Bar of Fels-Naptha laundry soap {found in laundry section}  $ .97

All of these were found at my local Walmart.  They were right below the starch and dryer sheets.  It was not brought to the front of the shelf, and it was on the very bottom behind a pole.  Not sure how often it's sold.

1 cup {8 oz} Borax
1 cup {8 oz} Washing Soda
1 bar Fels-Naptha

The boxes you will buy will last you for a really long time.  You will only be purchasing the bar of soap the next time you go to make another batch.

Grate up the bar of soap with a cheese grater {keep separate from food use}

Pour your measured ingredients into a bucket

Mix it all up together!

That's it.   You can use 1 tbsp or an 1/8 cup measuring cup as your scooper.  Maybe you have an extra coffee one you could steal.   1 scoop = 1 generous size of laundry.

This is low suds and can be used in HE washers.

I do a liquid version where I cook down the soap and add the dry and water.

Love my homemade laundry soap works just as good as tide!

Have you tried it in a HE washer? The bar soap brings back memories. My Mom use to use it to scrub our kitchen floor! I didn't think they still sold it! I think I might try making this.
TFS.
